Law And Grace

1.  Under Law, there was a dividing veil   Exodus 26:33

     Grace brought a rent veil   Luke 23:45   

      Hebrews 10:19-22

2. The Law blots out the sinner   Exodus 32:33

    Grace blots out the sinners sin   Colossians 2:14

3. The Law curses the offender   Galatians 3:10

    Grace covers the offender     Romans 4:7

4. The Law cries out   “Do and live”   Deuteronomy 8:1

    Grace cries out “It is finished”  “Receive Jesus

     and   live”   John 19:30 John 1:12

5. The Law cries out   “Every mouth stopped”   Romans 3:19

    Grace invites every mouth to call upon the Lord   

     Romans 10:9 & 13

6. The Law showed favor to the good   Proverbs 12:2

    God’s   Grace shows mercy and favor to the bad  

     Ephesians 2:1-6   Romans 5:20

7. The Law was engraved on a stone = outward   

    Exodus 24:12  Grace is given in the heart = inward. Christ in you   II Corinthians 3:3   Colossians 1:27 

8. The Law says “He added no more”   Deuteronomy 5:22

    Grace assures us “He has spoken by His Son”   Hebrews 1:2

9. The Law is demanding   Joshua 7:25  Exodus 19:13 

     Exodus  21:28,29    Numbers 15:36

    God’s Grace is out of love   John 14:15   

     II Timothy 1:9   Luke 19:9-10

10. The Law brings judgment   and a curse   Romans 5:18

     Deuteronomy  27:14-26

      Grace justifies us and frees us from the Law   Romans 3:24   Galatians 3:10 & 13

 11.  The Law cries out “Keep the commandments in every detail – Deuteronomy 27:26

       Grace gives assurance that God keeps us – I Peter 1:5

12.  Law   DEMANDS   love – Deuteronomy 10:12

       God’s Grace shows God’s Love – John 3:16

13.  The Law allows the sinner to sin – Romans 4:15 – Romans 5:20

       Grace removes the sinner’s sin – Matthew 1:21 –

        Psalms 103:12

14.  The Law makes it hard to get close to God –

        Exodus 20:21 – Exodus 19:16

       God’s Grace brings us close to God

        Ephesians 2:13 – Hebrews 10:22

15.  The Law demands obedience out of fear – 

        Deuteronomy 28:45   Grace brings us to obey out of God’s love in us – I John 4:18 – I John 4:12

16.  The Law cries out “stone him” – 

        Deuteronomy 21:20-21  Deuteronomy 22:21, 24

       Grace allows us to celebrate when one comes back to the Lord    Luke 15:20-22

17.  The Law brings death – Deut. 21:22-23 – Romans 5:17 –

      Galatians 3:13

       Grace gives life and peace – Romans 5:1 –

18. The Law retaliates – Exodus 21:24

      Grace redeems us from the Law – Galatians 3:13   Romans 8:3

19. The Law demands sanctification – Leviticus 11:44

      Grace bestows sanctification – I Corinthians 1:30

20. The Law justified 3,000 slain in one day – Exodus 32:28

      Grace saved 3,000 in one day – Acts 2:41

21. The Law is unsatisfying to the conscience –

   Hebrews 10:1-2    That is, if their sacrifices had so availed as to remove their past sins, and to procure forgiveness, they would have had no more trouble of conscience on account of them. They would not have felt that it was necessary to make these sacrifices over and over again in order to find peace.

      God’s Grace is unfailing in its forgiveness and remedy for sins –     Hebrews 9:12-14 & 10:10-14

22. The Law is the voice of fear and dread; it terrifies –

   Hebrews 12:18-21  Exodus 12:12,13,16,19

      God’s Grace is the voice of blessing, peace & assurance – I John 4:12  Hebrews 11:40

23. When the Law was given, the people feared –

      Exodus 34:30  A sight of his face alarmed them; their consciences were still guilty from their late transgression, and they had not yet received the atonement.

     Grace has no fear – I John 4:18

24. The Law is a heavy weight to carry – Galatians 5:1, Matthew 23:4

      Grace is never a weight, but is light

       Matthew 11:28-30-35.  The Law could not give

       salvation, but produced zeal – Romans 10:2, 

       Acts 22:3,  Romans 9:31, Romans 3:28

      Grace imparts zeal and gives us joy because we are saved – Titus 2:14, I Peter 1:8   John 15:11
